11 Why Visuals Are Part of Classroom Choreography

Studio Habits Matching Game

In Figure 11.14 in 30 Kids, 1 Sink we show how the Studio Habits Posters (included in the book Studio Thinking from the Start) were hung using Command hooks and paper rings so that they can easily be moved and rearranged.  Here we see additional functionality added by placing definitions underneath so that they can be used as a matching game.

Paper Rings--So Functional!

Paper rings and an extra hook make storing point-of-access and small group visual sets easy to store for art-on-a-cart.

Conceptual Visual-Interaction Sticks

Used for active participation and formative assessment, a simple class set of yes/no sticks makes quizzes, and checks for understanding gamifies a looking session, mini-lecture, or demonstration without having to create customized worksheets every time.
